WHY DO SMALL BUSINESSES MATTER?

During National Small Business Week, April 30-May 6, 2023, the U.S. Small Business Administration recognizes the hard work, ingenuity, and dedication of America’s small businesses, and celebrates their contributions to the economy. Small business owners not only make a living for themselves, but they also make their neighborhoods vibrant places to live and work.

In 2022, the small businesses in the downtown historic district of Buda generated approximately $217,000 in sales tax revenue for the city. Business owners in downtown reinvested over $470,000 in their businesses through expansions, renovations, or updates. And three new businesses opened their doors in 2022, bringing more jobs and adding to the community’s identity. These investments in our community ensure longevity in our downtown district and help maintain a superior quality of life in Buda.
